Dr. Halit Yetişir

Dr. Halit YETİŞİR got his PhD in Vegetable Breeding and Growing from Çukurova University, Turkey in 2001, completing a thesis with the title "Effects of Grafted Seedling on Plant Growth, Yield and Quality of Watermelon and Histological Investigation of Grafting Point”. He has worked at Mustafa Kemal University as a faculty member from 2002 to 2010. Since 2010 he has been working at Department of Horticulture in Erciyes University in Kayseri. He is working on vegetable genetic resources and grafting. He has been focusing on improving horticultural plant’s tolerance to stressful environments by using tolerant genotypes. His specific goal is to improve plant’s tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses, specifically but not limited to extreme salinity, drought and high pH and soil-borne pathogens, via using genetic resources by grafting. He is a member of Turkish Society of Horticultural Science and International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS).
